Troika

Troika is a classic family ride that has been at Cedar Point since 1976.
In the 1960's and 1970's Cedar Point was on its road to become a modern amusement park. Over that time Cedar Point began to have an aggressive expansion. In 1966 Cedar Point added Pirate Ride, a dark ride that took guest back in time to when pirates ransacked the high seas. In 1967 Cedar Point opened its first themed section, Frontiertown. Sky Slide opened in 1968. In 1969 Cedar Creek Mine Ride opened when Frontiertown was expanded. In 1970 Cedar Point Celebrated its 100th anniversary! Frontier Trail opened in 1971 taking guest back in time to when people made things by hand. In 1972 Giant Wheel opened. Cedar Point Cinema opened in 1975 as the world's largest IMAX Theatre.
WIth all of these rides being added, Cedar Point was becoming a really good park to take the whole family to!
With the introduction of Troika, it gave a ride on the new midway the entire family could enjoy together. It was joined by Dodgem 1 in 1977. Dodgem 1 was in the park until 2001.
Troika instantly become a very popular ride.
Over the next 26 years the area around Troika would changed. Jungle Larry's was removed in 1994. Chaos was built in 1997. In 1998 Power Tower was added. Dodgem 1 saw its last season in 2001.

In 2003, Troika was moved to a new location on the Beach Midway by Disaster Transport and Space Spiral to make way for the addition of Top Thrill Dragster. Over the years to come, the area around the new location would completely change as well.

Troika is a very family friendly ride. It is a similar to the Scrambler only it rises up into the air.

Troika was built by Huss. Troika was one of 4 rides at Cedar Point built by Huss of Berman, Germany. The other rides are: Witches' Wheel (1979-2018), Ocean Motion (1981) and maXair (2005). These rides are really fun for Cedar Point and help make the park's collection of rides unique.

The Troika ride concept was developed sometime in the mid 1970's. There were many different parks that had this ride at one point or another. The ride also was made to travel around. There are currently 10 parks in the United States that have a Troika ride. There are at least 24 known rides in the world.
Troika is a very popular ride that can often draw lines of up to 15 to 20 minutes. |

Troika is a great ride for families! It isn't the tamest ride but its not as thrilling as rides like maXair and Skyhawk. It is an in between ride.
After spinning around for about a minute or so the ride starts to lower to the ground!

Troika was a fun ride for Cedar Point. It gave that were in between height of Kiddy Kingdom and the bigger coasters something else to do.
