Scrambler is a classic spinning ride.

The 1950's was a traditional period for Cedar point. In the early 1950's the park was really falling apart. In 1956 Cedar Point was bought by local business men with plans to close the resort and turn it into housing development. After protesting, the new owners decide to turn Cedar Point into ''The Disneyland of the Mid-west." Cedar Point added Cadillac Cars in 1958. Turnpike Cars and the Monorail were added in 1959.

1960 would continue with the plan for the new Cedar Point.

For the 1960 season Cedar Point added Scrambler, Dodgem 1, Riverboat Cruise and the park received several cosmetic improvements.

Scrambler is located at the end of the Main Midway across from the Sky Ride Station and beside Matterhorn.

Scrambler has been in the same location since the ride opened in 1960.

When the ride opened the location was considered to be in the back of the park. To get to Scrambler in the 1960's you would have to walk across the road. Over the years the park would expand around the ride, making its location the middle of the park.

The first Scrambler came out in 1938. The ride was at the Lakewood Fairgrounds in Georgia. The ride was so popular that Scrambler rides began appearing at amusement parks all over the world. The ride quickly became a staple in the parks.

Scrambler was built by the Eli Bridge Company of Illinois. The ride cost Cedar point $50,000. That would be $436,005.07 in 2020.

Today Scrambler is the third oldest operating ride at Cedar Point.

Scrambler is a great ride for the entire family to ride together!

Ride Experience

The scrambler ride experience beings with guest getting in line for the ride. The line is located directly to the right of the ride.

The average wait time for Scrambler is less than 5 minutes. The longest the line gets is 15 minutes.

Riders are assigned cars on Scrambler. Riders are assigned to cars because the ride has to remained balanced.

Riders are held into the seat by a seatbelt. The cars lock with a locking hinge. Each car holds 2 people.

Scrambler has 18 cars arranged into 3 sweeps of 6 cars. Each sweep has a different color. The color are red, yellow and blue.

Scrambler starts by spinning in a slow clockwise circle.

As the ride spins faster the sweeps of cars start to spin a a counter-clockwise circle.

Scrambler creates centrifugal force as the ride is in motion. you can really feel the forces on the ride.

Riders are shifted to the outside of the car on this ride.

After 1 minute and 30 seconds Scrambler has come to a complete stop. Riders then exit onto the Main Midway.

Scrambler was a very popular ride for park guest.
