No one likes to see things go, but on this page lets take a moment to honor the rides that Cedar Point has removed to make way for new expansion. Some of these rides have been family favorites and some have been the park's thrill rides and roller coasters.
The Cyclone 1928-1951
Jumbo Jet 1972 - 1978
The Jumbo Jet was added to Cedar Point for the 1972 season. This was Cedar Point's most modern roller coaster when it first opened. Jumbo Jet was replaced with the WildCat in 1979.

Tiki Twirl 1970-1984
Frontier Lift 1967 - 1985

In 1967 Cedar Point opened Frontier Lift as a second way to get to Frontier Town. The ride was a Second Sky Ride that lasted until 1985.
Avalanche Run 1985 - 1989
Avalanche Run was at Cedar Point from 1985-1989, It was replaced with the Disaster Transport indoor roller coaster in 1990. Avalanche Run was a bob sled roller coaster. This classic family space adventure was removed from the park in 2012, in order to make way for Gatekeeper

Pirate Ride 1966 - 1996
Kid Arthur's Court 1982 - 1999
Kid Arthur's Court was a cool mid-evil themed kids play area. The attraction featured ball pits, crawling areas and slides. Kid Arthur's Court was mildly popular during its 17 year run at Cedar Point.
Kid Arthur's Court was removed to make room for Giant Wheel that was displaced to make room for Millennium Force for the 2000 season. |
Schwabinchen 1970 - 2002
Schwabinchen was a family spinning ride that opened near the train station on the new million dollar midway. in 1985 it was relocated near Oceanea where it replaced Rotor.
Schwabinchen was a german themed family ride that sinned around and up and down on a platform. The ride was sold to Strikers Grove in Ohio but never reopened. |

Disaster Transport 1990 - 2012
Opening in 1990, as Cedar Point's only roller coaster to ever operate entirely inside a building, Disaster Transport took its riders into space and places unknown for 22 seasons. this ride first opened in 1985 as Avalanche Run before being enclosed as Disaster Transport. This ride is missed, but GateKeeper is an amazing ride that is living on in its location.

Space Spiral 1965 - 2012
Space Spiral took riders up and above the vast cedar point peninsula and gave views of cedar point, lake Erie, lake Erie island and the city of Sandusky. Space Spiral is the tallest ride to ever be removed form any amusement park. When it was built in 1965, it was the first ride to be over 300 feet, this was Cedar Points first record breaking ride. The ride closed quietly on August 13, 2012. The ride will be missed deeply but GateKeeper will be promising something really special in 2013

Skyscraper 2008 - 2015
Shoot the Rapids 2010 - 2015
Shoot the Rapids opened in 2010 on Cedar Point's Frontier Trail. Costing 10.5 million dollars, Shoot the Rapids was Cedar Point's tallest, longest and fastest water ride ever built in the history of the park. After many problems, and the ride not living up to expectations, the ride was removed at the close of the 2015 season.

Witches' Wheel 1977 - 2018
Tilt-A-Whirl 1999 - 2018
Tilt-a-Whirl was added to Cedar Point in 1999 to the new Camp Snoopy section of the park. The ride was a classics Tilt-a-Whirl ride. After 19 years of operation, it was decided to change the ride experience. Tilt-a-Whirl was transformed into Linus' Beetle Bugs. for the 2019 season to better fit the theme of Camp Snoopy.

Closed: August 15, 2021 Manufacture: Intamin AG Location: Corkscrew Midway Type: Strada Coaster Top Thrill Dragster opened in 2003 as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. Top thrill Dragster launches riders at speeds of 120 MPH up its huge 420 foot hill. Top Thrill Dragster was the first roller coaster in the world over 400 feet. This 17 second ride is a huge thrill for thrill-seekers Today Top Thrill Dragster is the second tallest roller coaster in the world, but, but it is still Cedar Point's tallest. |
