Ocean Motion is a swinging pirate ship ride that is located in the front of Cedar Point.
In 1971 Cedar Point sent guest back into the days of pioneers with the introduction of the Frontier Trail. 1972 saw 3 new rides with Giant Wheel, Jumbo Jet and Matterhorn. Cedar Point Cinema became the world's largest IMAX Theater when it opened in 1975. Corkscrew was the first roller coaster in the world to flip riders upside down three times when it opened in 1976. In 1977 Cedar Point added Witches' Wheel. Gemini opened in 1978 as the world's tallest and fastest racing roller coaster. Gemini Children's Area was added in 1979. In 1980 Oceana became Cedar Point's marine life complex.
Rumors that the ride would be removed surfaced during the 2007 season. In 2009 the ride was listed for sale.
The ride was quickly removed from the site so construction could begin on WindSeeker, Cedar Point's new 301 foot towering swing ride cold be built.
Ocean Motion opened before Memorial Day in 2011 and it was extremely popular! The Fans of the ride was very happy the ride was moved and beatified!
Ocean Motion is located at the very front of Cedar Point. The ride is to the right of the Front Gate.
The average wait time for Ocean Motion is 5-10 minutes. Because the ride is the first ride in the front of the park, the line can get as long as a half hour.
The line leads to a wooden deck that contains the ride's loading platform.
Ocean Motion is a 2 minute and 15 second ride.
After Ocean Motion opened in 1981, Cedar Point would add things that would bring something for the entire family to do including 18 roller coasters. All of these new attractions have given Cedar Point something new for guest to experience.
